Nezu Iinstitute of Fine Arts |

On display at Nezu Institute of Fine Arts is a collection of oriental art objects gathered over many years by Nezu Kaichiro, the founder of the Tobu Tetsudo (Tobu Railways). Altogether, about 7000 objects of Oriental art, including 7 national treasures and 87 important cultural properties can be found within, with frequent rotations of the exhibits necessary to show all the institute possesses. The most commonly viewed items in this collection are the traditional materials used in the tea ceremony and also the religious Buddhist relics. Visitors can also enjoy a vast Japanese garden and a museum shop on the grounds.
Nezu Institute of Fine Arts will close for serval years while its buildings undergo renovation work. The Insitiute is scheduled to reopen in the autumn of 2009. |

Walking along the avenue of ginkgo trees from Aoyama Dori walkers will first come across the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery (Seitoku Kinen Kaigakan) as they enter the outer gardens of Meiji Shrine. With Gaien consisting of the Jingu Baseball Stadium, a golf driving range, a batting practice area and other such facilities, this is truly one of the capital's green hearts. |
