  • * Eligible routes for RAC are Okinawa(Naha)-Kumejima / Miyako / Yonaguni and Ishigaki-Miyako / Yonaguni routes.
  • * Japan domestic portion of JAL international flights and Japan domestic flight sector operated as JAL international connection flights are not eligible.
  • * Some flights only operate during certain seasons, and not all year round. Operating carrier may change or may be cancelled.

  • *All seats on JAC routes, HAC routes, and RAC routes are "Regular Seats".
  • *Class J Awards are not available on some domestic routes and flights.
  • *First Class award ticket is not available. However you may board on First Class by paying a surcharge if you hold either an Economy Class award ticket or Class J award ticket provided that First Class seats are available at the airport on the day of departure. (Advance reservation for First Class is not permitted if your base ticket is a JMB award ticket. You cannot board on First Class by using your mileage at the airport on the day of departure.)

Required Mileage

Regular Seat
Please refer to the “JAL Group Domestic Award Mileage chart.”
  • * Combination of 2 portions which require different mileage can be issued with adding half of the required mileage of each portion.
  • * Even if an award ticket will be used for only 1 sector, mileage for 2 sectors (round-trip) will be deducted.
  • * Awards issued for children and infants require the same mileage as those issued for adults.
  • * 2 flight sectors of JTA/RAC neighbor island routes may be combined with Hokkaido/Honshu/Shikoku/Kyushu-Okinawa(Naha, Ishigaki, Miyako, Kumejima) routes on JAL/JTA with an additional 5,000 miles. However, for 3 or more JTA/RAC neighbor island sectors, an additional miles depending on an area will be deducted for every 2 additional flight sectors.

Class J award ticket
2,000miles are required per 1 flight sector (4,000 miles for 2 flight sectors) in addition to the mileage required for the Regular Seat award ticket.

Restricted Travel Dates For Awards

There are no restricted travel dates during April 2008 and March 2010.
At other times the number of seats available for award travel may be limited, or may not be available.

Conditions for Using Awards

Itineraries
All flights must be confirmed at the time of mileage redemption.
Any 2 flight sectors can be included in 1 award.
  • * All award flight sectors must be on direct flight.
  • * Haneda and Narita airports in Tokyo are considered to be the same city, as are Itami and Kansai airports in Osaka, Chitose and Okadama airports in Sapporo or Chubu and Komaki airports in Nagoya.
  • * In the event that 2 flight sectors of JTA/RAC neighbor island routes are combined with Hokkaido/Honshu/Shikoku/Kyushu-Okinawa(Naha, Ishigaki, Miyako, Kumejima) routes on JAL/JTA with an additional 5,000 miles, the same flight sector cannot be used when going in the same direction.

Validity/Changes to Award Tickets After Mileage Redemption

Validity of Awards
Award tickets once issued are valid only for the flight and date reserved. If an earlier flight on the day of departure is available, you may board the earlier flight provided it is of the same flight sector. Failure to travel will result in the forfeiture of the award ticket, and refund of mileage*1 or change of award may not be available.
The change of travel date can be made through the JAL Group office of your membership registration within the 90-day validity, which commences from the day after the date of mileage deduction. All travel must be completed within the validity.

*1 Mileage refund of unused award tickets is not applicable to this case. Moreover, mileage refund is not available upon the departure of the flight of the first reserved sector.

Changes to award tickets upon mileage redemption
Date changes are permitted provided that the flight sector, direction and class remain unchanged. However, change of traveler’s name, flight sector, class of service, type of award, and changes to open itineraries are not permitted.
Please contact the JAL Group office of your membership registration for changes that are not mentioned above.

*When changes are made to Class J award tickets, Class J for the new flight/ date may not be available or scheduled. In such cases, Class Y may have to be taken instead, and mileage will not be reinstated.
*If an earlier flight on the day of departure is available, you may board the earlier flight provided it is of the same flight sector.
*Upgrade to "Class J" from regular seat on Domestic Award Tickets are available with an additional 2,000 miles for 1 flight sector. If Class J are available at the time of departure, you may travel in Class J by paying the Class J surcharge.

Deadlines for changing reservations
Reservation must be changed at least 4 days before the new departure date of the flight sector or before the original departure date and time of the flight sector (whichever comes first).
However, the journey must be completed within the validity of the award tickets.

  • *1 Application is limited to be made during the opening hours of the JMB desk.
  • *2 In case the departure time of the intended flight is earlier than the opening hour of the JMB desk, application must be completed by the closing hours of the JMB desk the day before.
  • *3 Reservation change through the JAL Homepage is possible until 1hour before the departure time of the first flight sector.
    Reservation change after departure of the first sector can be made one hour before the departure of the second sector except the following cases,
  • When you have already received an award ticket for the second sector
  • When the itinerary involves 3 sectors or more
  • When you make reservations for 2 persons or more
  • *4 Pacific time for JMB members of American region, UK time for JMB members of Europe·Middle East·Africa region, and Hong Kong time for JMB members of Asia·Oceania region.
  • * For JTA/RAC Ryukyu island routes added to routes connecting JAL/JTA Hokkaido/Honshu/Shikoku/Kyushu and Okinawa(Naha, Ishigaki, Miyako, Kumejima) by means of an addition of 5000 miles, the order of flight sectors cannot be changed.
  • * Failure to travel on the reserved flight and date or an earlier flight on the same day will result in the forfeiture of the award ticket.
    Mileage may not be refunded and the award may not be changed to a different one.
  • * To reinstate mileage after they have been deducted, please see "Mileage Reinstatement Service".
    However, mileage may not be refunded upon departure of the first sector's flight.

How to Request Awards

Deadline for Award Request and Processing
Award booking will be accepted from 9:30 (Japan time) 2 months (the same day of the month) prior to the date of departure until 4 days (excluding the departure date) prior to departure. Award booking through the JAL website is possible until 23:59* p.m. 4 days prior to departure.
Where to Request
1. JAL Homepage ……… Please click on the “Award Ticket Reservation” on the top right-hand corner of the website upon user login. (Some restrictions apply.)

2. JAL Group Office of your membership registration ……… Please provide your JMB membership number when making requests through the telephone.
*Please confirm the telephone number before making requests.

Notes on Award Request
Please make sure that you have the required number of miles at the time you request an award. You cannot request an award if you do not have the required mileage.
Please be noted that waitlists are not permitted for award reservations of domestic sectors.
Moreover, please be aware that domestic award tickets require confirmed reservation of all requested sectors. The award will not be issued until your reservation has been confirmed. Once the reservation is confirmed, the award application will be completed by deducting the necessary miles from your JMB account and issuing the award.

Notes on Award Requests made through the Internet
For each reservation, reservation of 2 flight sectors (and an additional 2 flight sectors if your itinerary includes Okinawa routes to the neighboring islands), or for oneway travel, resrvation of 1 flight sector in one transaction is necessary. Please note that mileage for 2 flight sectors will be deducted even if only 1 flight sector is necessary for travel. Also, after applying for an oneway award ticket, and completing reservation process through the JAL website, addition of a second flight sector at a later transaction is not permitted.
If your itinerary involves a sector in which the departure date is beyond the reservation acceptance period, please refrain from making reservations online, and contact the JAL Group office of your membership registration upon the starting date of award request for the first/ sector. (The return trip confirmation service may be applicable to certain classes in some itineraries.)
  • * A maximum of 4 passengers may be accepted in one request.(Total number of passengers allowed is 4 including adults and chidren plus 2 infants accompanied by adults who do not require seats.) However, for situations where fewer than 4 seats are available, reservations may only be ellgible untile all 4 seats are available.
  • * Each adult passenger may bring along an infant under the age of three who does not occupy any seats.

For passengers needing special assistance, please contact the JAL Group office of your membership registration. (There are situations where boarding may not be available for certain flights.)

  • * Pregnant women expecting within 28 days
  • * Junior VIP passengers (children under 6 years of age should be accompanied by passenger over 12 years of age.)
  • * Passengers traveling on Japan Air Commuter (JAC), Hokkaido Air System (HAC), or Ryukyu Air Commuter (RAC) with excess and/or bulky baggage

How to Receive Award Tickets

*Please pick up your Award Tickets at the airport on the day of departure.

Receiving Award Tickets using the Ticketing and Check-in Machine (where available)
 
When the JMB member whose mileage has been deducted is traveling Press the "Award" button and insert the JMB membership card into the Ticketing and Check-in Machine on the day of departure.
When the JMB member whose mileage has been deducted is not traveling Press the "Award" button and enter the "Recipient number" into the Ticketing and Check-in Machine on the day of departure. (*)
Receiving Award Tickets at the Airport Ticketing Counter in Japan
 
When the JMB member whose mileage has been deducted is traveling On the day of departure, present the JMB membership card to the Ticketing Counter staff and mention that you will travel on Award Tickets.
When the JMB member whose mileage has been deducted is not traveling On the day of departure, mention that he/she will travel on Award Tickets. Also inform the Ticketing Counter staff the "Recipient number" given at the time of Award reservation.(*)
  • * For reservation made through the JMB Center/ JMB Award Ticket Reservation Desk of your region, or if you have forgotten the "Recipient number"on the day of departure, please advise the "Reservation Confirmation number" along with presenting proof of identification (passport, drivers' license or health insurance certificate) of the traveler at the airport ticketing counter.
  • ※When the JMB member whose mileage has been deducted is traveling, and forgets to bring his/her JMB membership card, the award ticket will become void and unusable.
  • ※When the JMB member whose mileage has been deducted is not traveling, he/she must advise the passenger the "Reservation Confirmation number" or "Recipient number" in advance. If the passenger does not have the "Reservation Confirmation number"or "Recipient number" on the day of departure, he/she will not be able to receive the Award Tickets.
  • ※Receiving Award Tickets using the Ticketing and Check-in Machine is limited to JAL/JTA/JEX/JAC/HAC flights. For RAC flights, you must receive the Award Tickets at the airport ticketing counter.
